SciFi and Fantasy Art Cavegirls Just Can´t Win by Edward P. Woo

In another of my cavegirls in peril series, this one finds herself about to be at the mercy of another carnivorous plant. This plant, while initially similar in appearance to a giant Venus Flytrap, is somewhat different. It conceals itself among tall grasses, waiting for larger prey to stumble into it. Once an unwitting animal (or cavegirl) steps onto the spongy surface, a motile vine is activated, wrapping around the victim, or at least an extremity. This vine, perhaps once a separate entity that lived in symbiosis with the plant, has long since integrated completely. It secretes a potent contact poison that will instantly paralyze the victim, completely disabling their fine motor coordination, and severely weakening them, but not killing them. This allows the plant to digest them more quickly, as it only produces enough digestive acid to coat its spongy inner surface. With the victim still partially mobile, but only enough so to flail about wildly inside, this allows the acids to coat them more efficiently, and thus the prey item assists in its own digestion mechanically. This cavegirl is about to feel the cold chill of the paralyzing toxin when the vine touches her leg, but her unfortunate hunting partner has already been ensnared, collapsing down into the plant as its body encases her writhing form.
