On nights of the full moon the nosferatu (can you see him in the picture?)takes the secret passage from his bedchamber to a parapet on the roof and there flies off to the sleeping village in the valley below.

I believe this is the time locals of the site do something known as the first comment dance.
With that out of the way, that is a masterful and eerie picture. The details are simply amazing, and everything fits together extremely well to create a creepy feeling. As for the hunt for the owner, I see a face just to the left of the center of the picture, with a shock of white hair. Probably not what you were referring too, but a great effect anyways. Actually, I see faces all over that painting, how eerie.

This I find very imaginative! ... People tend to do so many character portraits that this kind of stuff is instantly refreshing... and reveals so much more of a sense of personality. It invites to make discoveries in the picture, though I did not find anything, does not matter.
