I like to call this my 'furry poem'. I'm not a huge fan of the furry subgenre and all that anthropomorphism stuff. However, if I HAD to chose an animal to give humanoid attributes I'd choose a cat. How very effin original, huh? Anyway, this poem came about as a sort of inner monologue for my inner-furry. She would, of course, be a courtesan, well-versed in spycraft. :D Short fur, long tail, solid chocolate brown, and yellow eyes. Hee hee. Furries!!!

She-beast,

queen of pride,

driven by oldmind,

the primeval brainmatter

of mammals.

Ancient hunter

seeking prey,

enjoying the game.

Salacious child

of skin and teeth

longs to catch you sleeping,

tangle you in her hair.

Beware ambiguous words

that lick your ears,

tease you into place.

Young men are fools,

powerless against

the soft press of

hip and thigh,

can't fight the

curve of breasts.

Hunting, watching

not quite stalking.

more curiosity, than malice.

I'm just a kitty-kat lurking.

I'll make you think

Little girl.

Indeed, in your own bed,

young man.

But thanks for then extra nice comments. I REALLY liked the way this piece turned out myself. And that's rare, especially for poetry. I spent a month or two on it, cutting bits away and changing words. I had crossed my fingers while it was in the ticket queue, hoping to get one of those gold stars. I'd just read this article in woodworks about what the mods hate about poetry. I guess they hate furries too. ;D"

Also, I think the play on the title is quite funny. Lovely poem! Ashley R. Wynn replies: "This one was written a year or two after Incubus, from bits gleaned from my notebook margins. It's probably my favorite by far, and the only one of my own poems that I've ever read out loud at a public reading."
