(An ancient pic--from the late 80's--done in oil pastels and Conte crayons, which has been completely recolored and fixed-up this year because ZerikaZaheroux bought the original from me.)

The End of the World will be both a beautiful and terrifying thing..."I watched as the angel opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place." (Rev. 6:12-14) The decending, shining Dove is symbolic of the Second Coming--of hope and salvation amidst the storm, destruction and chaos of the Apocalypse. The End of the World will be both a beautiful and terrifying thing...'I watched as the angel opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.' (Rev. 6:12-14) The decending Dove is, of course, symbolic of the Second Coming. (Done in oil pastels.)

You're depiction of the Second Coming is wonderful. I really don't know what to say. I just love it. Keep up the good work.

Beautiful work. I love the colouring, and the pigeon looks very realistic. Unfortunately, I've just read "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, so now I won't ever think of the apocalypse in a normal way again...

To person above me, I believe it is not a pigeon, but a dove. This is beautiful. I like how it looks like the earth is going through phases like the moon does, but when it's ful, the dripping blood is..wow. I'm not a super religious person, but these speaks volumes to me so thank you.

This is beautifully done! (as if you haven't heard enough of that already! 2) Anyway, I love the imagery and those verses you picked happen to be some of my favourites! It was great to see them in picture form!

This reminds me of a scene from Pink Floyd's Brick in the Wall album. Your picture is very beuatiful, in a sad way.

I like all the detail work on the feathers of that dove--gorgeous! Beautiful symbolism with the seven moons, too.

I love the way you underscored the hope provided by the dove with the rainbow rays - reminding us of God’s covenant after the flood.
