| 9 Dec 2004 | Christi | Loading...I love this picture it's awesome. I am personally obsessed with vampires, I have been since I was a little kid. Her skin looks flawless and has a certain glow to it. I love the coloring and little details of this picture, especially her necklace with the ankh. Was she meant to be Egyptian or just wear that as a sort of symbol to her eternal life? | |
| 9 Dec 2004 | Anonymous | Loading...I was thinking Bride Of Frankinstein as well. But that isn't to say that I don't absolutely love this. Very originally done. I so love the skulls and things. As well as the Egyptian twist. Tell me again why you gave up art??? You have major talent and imagination. Don't quit now. | |
| 14 May 2005 | Angelas | Loading...She looks more "bride of Frankenstein" than vampiric, but still a very cool picture. Lovely picture, vicious nails. | |
| 12 Jul 2005 | Silver night kiss | Loading...she indeed looks as the bride of Frankenstein. but I also find some resembles with Akasha from Anne Rice I really like the Ankh and her nails. It's one of the best vampire pictures, I have seen | |
| 4 Oct 2006 | Thanna "Woodswatcher" | Loading...*snorts* Bride of Frankenstein?--when did you ever see her hang upside down like a bat? White streaks in black hair are classic ways to depict a vampire, and the use of an ankh isn't uncommon either. I see you listed David Bowie as an influence, Helen. Have you seen The Hunger? He plays a vampire who drinks blood not from biting with fangs, but from cuting the prey with a ankh necklace (the looped end is like a hilt of minature dagger that fits into the rest of the ankh like a scabbard) I love this. Don't mind people who probably think Brohm Stoker invented vampires, when in reality, the mythos predates written language. And thank you for drawing it so well when you prefer the Sithe. Helen Rich replies: " Thank you. I have seen 'The Hunger' many years ago, and had forgotten about the ankh until you mentioned it. I am a little more knowledgeable about Vampires now, than when I painted this back in 2002, and I have never seen 'Bride of Frankenstein' or read anything by Ann Rice.I agree with you that the mythos is fascinating, and often misinterpretted - much like the transition of the Sidhe from powerful beings that people were genuinely worried about upsetting, to whimsical flower fairies.I'm pleased that you like it. I think, if I were to revisit the theme, I might paint it a little differently now. H.xx" | |
