Here is a watercolour piece I did for the Bifrost Mythology project, based on Welsh mythology.
Meet Blodeuedd (pronounced Blod-i-weth - Welsh for 'made of flowers'). A condensed version of her story follows;
Blodeuedd was created out of flowers to be a wife to Llew Llaw Gyffes. Llew's mother, the Goddess Arianrhod, had placed a curse upon her son that he would never take a mortal wife. And so Bloedeuedd was created by Llew's uncle, Gwydion, a powerful sorcerer.
Unfortunately, Blodeuedd became infatuated with Gronw Pebyr, a neighbouring land owner, and together they plotted to murder Llew. They did not succeed however, Llew was transformed into an eagle, and remained in that form until he was discovered by Gwydion and restored to his human shape, whereupon he immediately took his revenge and murdered Gronw. Blodeuedd was cursed by Gwydion to perpetual abhorrence of sunlight, and transformed into an owl, a bird vilified and detested by all other birds. Her name was changed to Blodewedd, (blod-ey-weth) a subtle difference - it means flower face - like an owl.

The owl reminds me so much of Labyrinth. 2 This is a beautiful piece. I especially love the violet roses and the back-lighting on the tree. On a technical note, I think the girl's cheekbone juts out too much, but it is only a small flaw amid such mysterious, serene beauty!

So pretty... watercolour can be such a difficult medium to work with, but it produces such soft, beautiful images! Beautiful painting, full of magic and mystery. I love her face!

This is a very lovely picture. I happen to be infatuated with Norma Peters and her work, and rarely do I comment upon the work of other artists, but I love this particular piece, and I thought I'd make it known. You have much talent, yes. Thank you for sharing it with the world! ^_^

I don't usually comment on any work but Goddess Lady's, but I stumbled upon this piece and was very much impressed. This is very lovely, and is going on my wall. A fantastical piece. Its symbolism is remarkable, and quite praiseworthy. You are a wonderful artist. Mayhap I shall even take the time to view more of your work. You've done a great job here. The colors are superb.

Weird Story, Beautiful picture

Charles Barbarow - If you think this story is weird, read the rest of the Maginogion - Lady Charlotte Guest - Welsh mytholgy is deep and complex, as well as beautiful. This is one of the best renderings of the myth I have ever seen.
