This is my submission for the Bifrost Water-World project. I've wanted to paint a fish-man for some time, and I've often thought that mermen should be colourful creatures - after all tropical fish can be an amazing variety of colours, so why not mer-folk? This is the largest watercolour painting I've done for years - it was way too big to fit on my scanner - so I had to photograph it, and in the process I've lost most of the detail, especially on the scales. He was a lot of fun to paint.

I'm not a big commenter-- I like this, especially loving the ocean as I do. Very nice colors, and beautiful composition and mood-- ver nice overall, as a mater of fact. Many smiles to you!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This piece is FANTASTIC! It's easily the most original merperson I've seen in just about FOREVER! I LOVE the colours and the unique body shape. My eyes immediately went to the Grecian double-pipes, which are very fitting because they are reminiscient of other kinds of Grecian mythological creatures (Satyrs, for instance). I also like the way the water was drawn.

Hmm...I like the way you've drawn the water, but it doesn't seem rough enough to create that much of a splash on the rock the merman is sitting on. There isn't as much splash on any of the other rocks either...I really like the colors and the head and-hey, it'll just be easier if I said I liked the whole merman, lmao. Great job.

I like the detail of the rocks, the colour of the water and the water splashing against the rock. The scales on the tail look a little odd though.

So Beautiful - like Pan as a Merman. On land they think Great Pan is dead - but he has only traansformed.
