I joined Elfwood way back when there were only 100 galleries. In recent years I've been concentrating on making masks, and my painting has taken a bit of a back seat. However...

Creation is freedom of expression. When I create a picture or a mask, I do not want to worry about whether it fits in with various rules. I have recently found the multitude of regulations laid down by the ERB to be rather excessive, and quite confusing. While I understand - and agree with - the need for rules about profanity and nudity, and the need to ensure that the exhibited work meets certain standards, I feel that things have got out of hand. Some paintings which I thought were obviously fantasy, quite clearly were not. 

So faced with the task of going through several of my paintings and making them or their descriptions acceptable for the ERB, I made the decision to remove most of my work from the site. I don't have the time to worry about whether I am complying with Elfwood rules for each new piece. I must point out that this is not being done as a knee-jerk reaction to receiving the ERB email; this is something I have been meaning to do for some time. I've not done much with my Elfwood gallery for several years, and most of the work that was displayed here was old and no longer of a standard that I was happy with.

I have left a couple of pieces here, because I like Elfwood. I have been proud to display my work here in the past, and may still want to place new work here in the future. In the meantime, my artwork and masks are still online in various other places - I'm not hard to find.

Thank you to everyone who has left me positive and constructive comments over the years. You're brilliant! It's been a lot of fun, and I have enjoyed meeting you all and making new friends.
