It sleeps

In a cool blue pool it sleeps.

With the soft waves running over it creating a harmonic lullaby.

The skin is paler than the white coral and softer than silk made from the finest worms.

The eyes close softly with the long lashes sweeping lowly.

The scales shimmer in the midst of the moonlight. The fins flick softly to the tune of the waves.

This is a creature many think of. Sailors dream of and women want to be of. What kind of magic does a creature like this have? Eternal beauty, and mystery surrounds it. This young mermaid sleeps in a cool blue pool at the bottom of the sea.

Yes... nice imagery indeed. And more then that... there's something fantastical about this poem... it's like a dream that floats just beyond tangible reach. - Warlord of the Three Lost Virtues

I'm known for being critical. I don't like leaving a comment without some (hopefully) constructive criticism. So therefore: Take what you can use, and let the gulls have the rest.
The first two lines work well. Then I cringed at the word 'lullaby'. Too cliché for my taste.
Then comes the word 'worms'! That just doesn't fit the mood you're creating, does it? And talking of worms as 'fine' just throws me.
And then, of course, the waves don't make much noise at the bottom of the sea, do they? You'll have to be close to shore for that to happen. And describing that sound as a 'tune' also seems to miss the mark. Now, most people don't notice this, and I probably wouldn't have either, if I hadn't stumbled on the earlier words.
So anyway, those were just some five pennies' worth.
