| 25 Sep 2003 | Booga | Loading...The trick to metal is to put the highlights right against the darkest part, instead of against the middle tones. That's what gives it that shininess. This is a very cool picture, with great ideas behind it. Also very creatively designed machine parts. Keep it up! | |

If you really want to learn how to recreate metal, study it alot in real life. It can make a world of difference in your art. Nice picture, though.

It's been a while, but if you're still struggling with metals, here's a great tutorial link I found very useful: http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/farp/metal2/Reflective0.htm

| 4 Dec 2005 | D. 'Stargazer' Corlianni | Loading...Hey, I'm with you on the fact that, metal is definately hard to give some justice. I want so badly to embark on a female character, who is kinda robotic, w/a metal look, and coverings. I know, hard as crap right? I have been working on her, for soooooo long. I just can't get, "The Metal Look", the way I want it. I also want so, so, badly, for the moderator's to get thru, and post my next work peices, in the waiting que. Since I have started art school. In one of my new pics. in waiting, I finally feel I gave the jewelry it's just due. I think metals is deffinately a skill that is one of the hardest, to give that perfect real touch, but you did extremely well. I have not built up my gallery, due to the fact that, The "MD School Of The Arts" is very demanding. WHICH I LOVE! And some of my assignments from the art school, are turning out well enough. To post in my gallerey, but I hope you visit my gallery, in a month or so. Maybe they will finally have moderated my pics in. By the way Great job, very creative on the picture, and you did well with the metal. Star* | |
