Month/year:- Feb/March 2004, Comments:- Another of Sajhiri's characters I drew for her, Marquis Arturo Mercat, this time an attempt by me to do an illustration from a story she's writing!

It's actually a picture I'm quite proud of, even though I can see the flaws in it. I felt it was a fairly ambitious piece for me, I really stuggle with illustrations/scenes ^_^ Look! My first castle, yay! Never tried to do one of those before! However, even though I love castles, I found it really hard to draw. I'm not good with buildings of any kind really...I love celtic knots too, although they are a pain to draw. I think my love of Larry Elmore's art show in the way I draw clouds^^;Worst thing about this picture in my mind? The serving boy! Does he look creepy or what! lol!

I agree the black clothes turned out very well, thats hard to do in black and white. the serving boy is pretty creepy, i think that his cheek line really adds to it, maybe if it wasnt so bold.

Ok, this is amazingly spiffy rad, but I couldn't help but crack up when I saw it because he reminds me so much of the evil dude in Robin Hood: Men In Tights. (the one dude always in black, i think his name is john)

I think the kid looks like he hates & fears the Marquis for whatever reaason.

This is EXCLLENT!!! The detail and the shading. I love it! My daughter says it kinda looks like me... but I've NEVER stood like that before 12

Why haven't I been to this gallery before? I should really look out more for my Elfwoodian neighbours. This is really, really good. Clear, but not dull. I love it, both the pose and the expression!

Found this after checking out you new mod choice. I just have a thing for black and whites. This just need a companion piece with a lady in a square necked renaissance dress.

Wow! Just incredible. I think the serving boy reminds me of Viola in Shakespeare's 12th Night... I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was a she who was madly in love with him. Fantastic.

Dude, I'd marry him in a heartbeat.
...although his serving boy has come to eat my soul. Hmm. Soul, hot guy, soul, hot guy...decisions, decisions.

As to the comment above who said he looks kinda like the villain from Robin Hood: Men in Tights...that would be Mervin, the Sherriff of Rottingham. Haha, this guy is a TAD more sophisticated than that fellow, and good thing! I love his posture and facial expression - arrogant and very confident, but you've got the feeling he can back it up with some wicked swordplay.
