| 27 May 2005 | Jasper Schellekens | Loading...Hey. I really like everything u've done! U've got a really cool way of inking! And the stippling...! U must have a lot of patience. Any tips on inking or stippling?! Roy K. Young replies: "sometimes I have patience sometimes I don't...but once I get into what I am working on I tend to not want to stop until it is done...which usually has me dragging myself away lolas for tips...grumble and curse a lot =P...only thing I can really think of to say is: take your time and keep your eyes on what you are doing" | |
| 17 Jun 2005 | Amanda Fay Kelsey | Loading...hello again roy! I'm so glad you commented on my work! It means so much to me! Now that I've read your comments I'd like to ask you a question. You know how you said that my work looked unfinished?(which i have to agree) What do you do in order to make your pieces look completed, and what would you suggest i do? Once again, i love your work! Beautiful! Talk to you soon! --Amanda Roy K. Young replies: "honestly, i'm not sure how to answer that...it is more of "feel" for what you are trying to present or represent in your work...sometimes it comes down to saying "that's it! I'm not doing anything more to it!"...i just recently went back and looked at some very old work of mine and while the techinical skill was not as good as i am now...there was still something about the composition and level of imagination that i put into them that i tend to be lacking in my work now. Right now, i let myself get into too much pose and portrait work and less of bringing out a greater level of fantasy with the scene...perhaps the best advice i can give at the moment: Look at what you are doing...study the picture on the whole and ask yourself: What does it need? For your work...you might be more adept to having a color scheme? Or adding greater detail? but it all comes down to what you decide is best for your artistic direction...keep at it and keep learning " | |
| 17 Jun 2005 | Louise Lindgren | Loading...Wow... where on Earth to start? The gallery of yours is really awsome. You seem to wield the pens of yours with full confidence and you have an amazing eye for details. The characters of yours are varied and unique and you don't seem afraid either to try out a little colour now and then. It's also nice to see that an artist like yourself take use of the information box in Extranet to write a real background story, like you have done to some of your artwork. I like it. It's very entertainting. Great gallery, keep it up. Roy K. Young replies: "thanks for visiting and commenting! as for coinfidence...hehheh i just find myself in this "zone" when i work...and if my hand starts to cramp...i tend not to give it too much rest *shake and loosen* and then back it again...until i drag myself away for the priorities of life and whatnot lol...as for color...i just haven't found a medium for that particular aspect that i really like and one that complements my style...mostly find myself hating to put color to something lol but if it works it works and if not...well, back to the drawing board as they say " | |
| 30 Sep 2005 | Oliver Jöhnk | Loading...Your work is remarkable and it's no surprise that you got a mod's choice for this wicked angel. Your inking skills are truely amazing. And not only this, your pictures are original and creative, too. Awesome work! Roy K. Young replies: "thanks! my ink work is not perfect, however, or atleast in the manner of translating to the printing press...sometimes too much detail is not a good thing lol" | |
| 20 Oct 2005 | Jade Smith | Loading...Wow! You're art is really really really good. I mean PRO. Do you draw for a living? You coudl certainly make money in my opinion. I would buy your art. That is, if I had money. I was wondering, does all your art correspond with stories that you have written? Or do you just draw out of nowhere? But yeah, really good. Just too good. I wish I could draw as good as all that. Roy K. Young replies: "oh geez gonna make me blush...to answer your questions, no not for a living...I'm a wage-monkey currently and do the art on the side...for the majority of my art, yes it goes with my weird stories and tall tales though I haven't quite put it all together yet...mostly just putting a visual to the wackos in my head...and don't give up on yourself...ya just gotta keep doing it " | |
