SciFi and Fantasy Art Blaster for Hire by Zachariah Campbell

Meet Dsark Kalavian, hired gun. He's a character I made for the new D20 StarWars game. He's kind of like the less romanticized version of Luke: a kid from a backwater mining colony who is actually an ignorant, belligerent, unintelligible redneck. :)

Check the gun... not actually a blaster, but a good old-fashioned slug-thrower, and he's a crack-shot with it too.

This is a pencil sketch that once again, I messed with in photoshop.

28 Aug 2002	Maya R. Hirschman	Loading... Woo ! I'm loving this one. It could come straight out of a core book from any sci-fi rpg. I love it, love it, love it. Actually, it makes me think of the lead character in "A Boy and His Dog", an early post-apocalyptic sci-fi flick about, well, a boy and his dog. If you're not familiar, find it and watch it. Zachariah Campbell replies: "I've certainly heard of the film... the titular "boy" was an actor who went on to other things... forget who, though. Don Johnson? Thanks for the good words. I agree, it does have a bit more of a post-apoc feel to it doesn't it?"

XD hahaha this is so awesome!!! of course i am a huge SW fan XD as told by my Wedge Antilles fetish 9__9;; but yeah! i like this one. as if the tusken raiders weren't belligerant rednecks as it stood why not some regular folk gettin in on the act?? i like the blurry business goin on too it definitely adds a lot XD Zachariah Campbell replies: "Yeah, I really like the murky feeling I got by layering some filters. Y'know, I never really thought of Tuskens as "rednecks" before, but you're right! They really are, kind of. "

I love this; it reminded me of how great the SW world can be if you iggy Luke and Jar Jar. Zachariah Campbell replies: "Outside of the larger, more "heroic" events, SW is a great sci-fi universe... it's huge and lawless, and gritty. It kind of saddens me that lately, the Lucas people seem to be trying to make it "smaller" and tidier. "

The rainy effect was kind of intentional... it seemed to go with his hat and poncho and overall mood. I gave him a pipe so he could always have something to chew on that wasn't a hayseed. "
