SciFi and Fantasy Art Inari by Zachariah Campbell

Unlike Vishantilankra, who was an infant adopted into the Temple of Prahatma, Inari Ramanagah was brought to the Temple as a young girl of Manji descent, and never lost her attachment to the secular world.

Although the girls became fast friends and great rivals, the two could not be more different. While Vishanti is honest, humble, and ernest, Inari is sly, irreverent, and ambitious. In spite of her inarguable talent in the Pramanic arts, Inari could not submit to the discipline of the Temple, and eventually escaped to make her own way in the world...

Inari was intended as a counterpoint character to Vishanti... in a Wuxia-themed fantasy setting (although she and Vishanti have a more "Indian" motif going). Jet Li fans out there might recognise this set-up as a feminine variation on the story from THE TAI-CHI MASTER, though I wasn't intending for it to turn out the same way. :)

The pants are held up by a sash tied tightly around the hips (you can see it better in the next Inari pic). Just for the record, this character design predates the current low-rider jeans fashion rage (thankyou Britney). "

Zachariah Campbell replies: "Actually, yes, that's exactly what I meant! Since she came late to the temple from a poor family, she's been conditioned to see money and status as the ticket to happiness. Also, when she quit the temple, there was the issue of a ruby missing from the statue of Hannu the Mountain Demon..."

I think I see where you were going with the descrption, I think the tai-chi master is just called twin warrior in the states right? well in anycase yes it does fit that story, two best friends who take two diffrernt courses in life and ultimatly become hated rivals and at the end they fight and well....we know how that ends. Zachariah Campbell replies: "Yeah, TAI-CHI MASTER is TWIN WARRIORS in its crappy dubbed US form. Not a bad little film though. The Vishanti/Inari relationship is essentially the same, though not as grand in it's outcome. "

Zachariah Campbell replies: "Wellll... not exactly. I drew her pretty small on a blank sheet, so I had the space. I just wanted to give her a sort of lazy irreverent slouch, as if she were leaning against a railing or something. I usually don't pay much attention to framing on EW (bad habit I know!)because I'm just trying to crop and cram as much size and detail as possible into the 150kb limit. "
