Gnomes, while not known for being a warlike folk, are both innovative and ingenious when the need arises. The Gnomish War Engine devised to repel the Redcap Goblins of Agrivaine Faeris at the Battle of Nobblenock was long ago lost, but remains a celebrated moment in Gnome folklore.

When the Engine was recovered by Fenrick Brasswhittle, he was delighted to find that it held many wondrous puzzlements, including a secret function he could not fathom. It was only when a magical mishap forced Fenrick's soul to take up residence in the Engine, that he discovered the secret function's true purpose... to transform the steam-powered, tread-wheeled War Engine into a towering titan of Gnomish engineering!

However no nimble Gnome could ever be content, trapped in the lumbering bulk of so clumsy and indiscreet a device. The more's the pity that poor Fenrick's passion became his prison...

This is quite an old piece, with some colour and shading recently applied. As a side note, this drawing considerably predates the IRON GIANT (wonderful film that it is).

The Iron Giant was a cartoon movie about a boy befriending a giant alien robot.
You should watch it.

:-) Zachariah Campbell replies: "Dude... it's like my favourite movie! I saw the Canadian premier of IRON GIANT at a film festival back in like, '98.However, what I was saying above is that this picture predates IRON G by about 8 years! Similarities are purely incidental. 2"

it looks cool and evrey thing but whtas with the mace on its if he stood up he probly coundt it any thing with it

:-) Zachariah Campbell replies: "Haha! Yeah, that occurred to me. The main reason the "basher" is there is because this war machine transforms into a sort of tank-like shape... in that form, the mace would smash targets in front of the vehicle. In the humanoid form... well, I guess if it was grappling with a similar sized giant or ogre, the basher would be useful, but that’s about it. 2"
