| 19 May 2003 | Steven De Waele | Loading...Could you draw him inebriated too? (i just love that word.) Zachariah Campbell replies: "It's a good word. Funny thing... I don't think I've ever drawn him inebriated before. I should. " | |
| 14 Dec 2003 | James Jandreau | Loading...That is a beautiful costume. I love the simple clean lines. I do think that you should colour Ivrion. I personally think that a watercolour style would look really sharp. Great drawring! | |
| 29 Dec 2004 | Julie R. Kowalski | Loading...C'mon you didn't make that costume up out of yer head, right?....and the detail in the sword?.....come on!...you used a reference, didn't you?......love it Zachariah Campbell replies: "I don't even know where I would find a reference for this kind of outfit. I was just running on an old-fashioned "fairy prince" theme. As I mention in one of the earlier comments on this page, the character actually grew out of a costume I made once for an event, that just happened to be all in wine-tones. From that point, it was just a matter of adding a lot of frilly stuff. " | |

| 5 Aug 2009 | Jeanette M Thomas | Loading...Gorgeous. Would love to see him in his burgundy & purple robes as you describe. Would have to have a touch of green for accent. I know you didn’t use it as a reference - too different, but please take a look at the King of Pentacles in the Rider/Waite Tarot deck. The concept of the richness of the grapepvine patterned robe is similar. In fact, this would make a gorgeous Knight of Pentacles. -- a note, the vine sheathed sword looks lovely, but also indicates the sword hasn’t probably had as much use as the axe. Also - wouldn’t the juice of the grapes have a bad effect on its steel???? Zachariah Campbell replies: "There IS an aesthetic similarity to the King of Pentacles design! It’s not a direct influence, but I love the Rider deck and Ivrion as a whole character concept was very much based on that Art Nouveau "romantic medieval" style. I think I was looking at Beardsley’s Morte D’Arthur a lot around the time that I drew this. I even started work on a Tarot deck... funny, I never posted any of that stuff. Forgot about it till now!
As for the vines on the sword, I admit it’s not that easy to see, but the sword still has a sheath. The vines are wrapped around the sheath, not the bare blade. Besides, everything about this guy is touched with magic, so we’re not supposed to worry about stuff like that
Thanks! " | |
