Geez, another femme fatale misogynist anxiety indicator... damn those german expressionists!

But seriously, this is Vara. She's of the Haemovori, an ancient fae race of nocturnal blood-drinkers...but here's the twist: They're not dead. And furthermore, they generally don't drink people blood... not anymore anyway. Oh, and they don't brood, they don't frenzy, they don't wear puffy poet shirts or leather pants, or listen to industrial goth music. Nice folks actually, except for the really old ones who don't want to stay dead...

This is actually entirely computer coloured, and please be honest... is that CG background total cheese? Someone mentioned that it looks like one of those backdrops for school pictures, and I think they're right! :)

oh! but i love it!
she's a vampire in the way that her physiology demands a diet of blood. she's /not/ in the way that she'll bitch about her eternal lust, damnation, and angst poetry. damn that industrial music!
i'm so glad. really. this picture of a vampire is so REFRESHING! who doesn't get tired of wine and perpetual bondage?!
aside from the fact that it is a brilliant character design and background, i love the watery effect it has. sort of like you're looking at her via reflection of a pool or something. her expression suggests a decent personality, too. she looks bemusedly content (the slight angle of her head was just the right thing).

:-) Zachariah Campbell replies: "Hey thanks! I wanted to get away from some of the vampire cliches on some level... though I'm sure some purists might just complain that I've removed all the darkness and edge from what Vampires are. Maybe. I just got tired of the undead damnation thing... which if you're going to develop well-adjusted vamp characters, is kind of a must.)"

Hey! I love the coloring.. weird though 'cause this one looks alot like Sarah.

:-) Zachariah Campbell replies: "*blink, blink*What's really scary is that I never really noticed... but you are so right! Weirder still, I think this drawing might actually predate my relationship with her... but the resemblance is definitely there. Hmmmmm..."

I don't think the background is cheesy. I love subtle textures like that. It is flat enough to seem like she's standing in front of one of those portrait studio backdrops, but, since it's just a character portrait, I wouldn't worry too much about that. Or, it reminds me of a rough rock wall, if that suits what you're going for.

I like this pic but her head is to small for her body and her nose makes her look lake some sort of dog but the way you did the face is really good and i love the coloring on the it the background is pretty good apart from the fact that the pic would look better if it was darker but i really do like this pic

:-) Zachariah Campbell replies: "Both good points. The red on her nose kind of makes the shape of the nose look different than it is. Also, her head isn't really too small, but her neck is too long, so it appears that way. I'm trying to be more conscious ofthe giraffe-necks I give my figures lately. 2I'll probably try fixing those things in photoshop to see how it changes the pic. As for the paleness of the picture, I like that. I want her to seem almost colourless."
