A gryphon flying off to war, a warrior bearing a battle hammer on its back. The scanner messed up my feeble attempts at shading. Done on computer paper using #2 pencil.

Isn't that a griffin ?(gryphons have hooves) I think i read that in a book somewhere. Not a bad pic by the way. The griff's head is pretty good, but it's body seems rather shapeless. I do like the positions of it's claws though. Sort of gnarled. Also, the wings seem a little small and light for something so large, but the detail on it's feathers is quite good. The man's face leaves a bit to be desired, though, but i like his arms.

Actually i think the difference between gryphon and griffin and griffon and all those others is just spelling. ^_^ most of the time i think of griffin as a last name, griffon as a first name, and gryphon as the beast you see. good drawing by the way

:-) Rena V. Swift replies: "Thanks...I always get confused with all the different spellings. The drawings in your gallery are nice too, BTW."

isn't that the griffon fromthe warcraft II booklet, damn sure look alike, i consantly look at the booklets for drawing ideas too10
good drawing though^-^

:-) Rena V. Swift replies: "Really? I saw the booklet at my friend's house, and I tried to draw the gryphon (griffin?) when I went home. I didn't know it was that similar looking, though, since I have a bad photographic memory 2"

Copying is a great way to learn, it's also known as observation in art. I think this is an awsome drawing! It's not impossible for more than one person to have the same idea, is it? *gives Rena a balloom* ^=^ Te! He!

:-) Rena V. Swift replies: "Ummm...Yay! *Takes balloom and wonders what it is* hehe"

I'm not really into the proportions, but the shading is good. I also like the concept, the guy on the gryphon's back is cool 2

Hippogriffs have hooves. Gryphons are the front of a eagle w/long ears and the rear of a lion. There are different alterations for this like cats, cheetahs, leopards, etc. for the rear and a different kind of bird for the head. Sometimes people put 4 lion paws instead of using bird legs. The one you drew is perfect except that they have ears or feather tufts on their head. Still, variety is nice and this is so cute! I love your style of art!^_^
