SciFi and Fantasy Art Skogsrå by Fredrik Zingmark

In swedish folklore, the 'Skogsrå' or 'Skogsfrun' creature was a terrible being. At first sight you see a beatuiful woman waving at you, trying to get you further into the woods. Somehov it never matters how fast you run, she is always ahead, luring you deeper and deeper into the forest. Should you happen to see her back, you would know that you are lost. Her back consists of hollow, rotting wood. When you are deep enough to not find your way back out of the woods, she will leave you to starve.

8 Jan 2001	Daniel	Loading... I've heard another tale about this. It's that she lures you far into the woods and then you'll se her back which is not of hollow rotting wood, but of bark. And you don't starve and die, you get turned into stone. But that's just what I've heard. Great work though. But I think the "hollowness" on the back could be improved, right now I think it looks as if someone ripped a huge piece of skin off her back.
